Put down your sticks

Today is the day when I put on my pants and could not zip them up. Just a few days ago, these pants, my favorite pants fit just fine, if a tad snug. However, in the past week, I have totally, irreparably pooched. What was once concave is now decidedly convex.

And painful! I guess all of my reading of both books and mother blogs never produced evidence that one’s growing fetus feels like you’ve swallowed a nuclear-powered bread machine combined with a taffy puller. I’m not really sure what I expected. No, I know exactly what I expected: I expected my tummy to painlessly puff up into a hard shell.

It turns out that I imagined pregnancy to be strikingly similar to making a pinata. Only, you get something that poops on you instead of Twix.

I resisted maternity pants for the first half, but then had to give in. I’m such a convert that I actually STILL wear them. I try not to say that too loud though.

I am currently wearing my new maternity pants from Motherhood. They are great! I really like how they come all the way up my stomach, as it is like 20 degrees here.
